Fetch
So what do you think, could the launch of today’s Artemis 2 moon mission really be about “rewilding” werewolves? If it is, what will our furry friends do when they reach the big cheese? Go for a dip in the Sea of Tranquility? Or an incredible journey across the Lunar Apennines?
I’d like to say I planned the timing of this comic, but it’s actually just a coincidence that I’m posting it today. The thinking on it began a couple of weeks ago when I was prepping to teach a comics workshop at the library where I work.
Here are a couple of action photos:
The workshop included a plotting exercise built on the theme brief we used in last year’s Kids Comics Anthology. I asked kids to draw four panels to illustrate:
the introduction of a hero, who is traveling somewhere
a problem the hero experiences as a result of encountering a creature
an action the hero takes to overcome the problem
the result of that action
The kids were great, and the workshop reminded me of how wacky and uninhibited young minds can be. Some of the creatures the kids came up with included: echo wraith, evil part-turtle weird man, mutant banana, and black hole. And one kid solved their hero’s problem by turning their annoying creature into a loaf of bread.
So the time spent prepping for the workshop was totally worth it! And BONUS, in brainstorming more examples to present the kids, I found the beginning of a new comic!
Yeah, for me, these panels feel more like the beginning of a longer story, than a neat in-and-out-and-end-with-a-punchline kinda thing. I have a few ideas where the story might go next, and I’m gonna chase that stick, until I either bring it back all covered in spit, or life throws me a better one! Awooooooooo!

Looks like a great class!
Hah! Funny and clever. Looking forward to finding out what the longer form is like. Congrats on a fun comics class!
